PM Fibers for Telecommunications
Polarization-maintaining fibers for telecom applications are specially adapted to the requirements of this field of application. For example, the attenuation losses caused by splicing can be reduced to less than 0.1 dB. The extinction ratio of the polarization is less than -32 dB. The fibers are designed in such a way that they exhibit the greatest possible geometric precision. For example, they are particularly suitable for 45° splices, such as those required in the manufacture of Lyot depolarizers.
Fibercore’s PM fibers exceed all relevant Telcordia standards.
HB1250T, HB1480T, and HB1500T
These versions are also available with a 400 μm double acrylate buffer. This makes the fiber even more robust. The degradation of the extinction ratio of the polarization within the application also decreases.
HB980T and HB1480T
These fiber versions are mainly developed to pigtail pump diodes for use in the polarization multiplex process.
HB14XXT, HB1250T (9/125), and HB980T (6.6/125)
Fibers with a short beat length are particularly well suited for Raman pump depolarizers and PM pigtails.
