The newest version of MOLSPEC, the spectral software for molecules, is a major step forward. Based on the HITRAN 2004 database, spectra of 39 molecules can be generated. Pressure, temperature, concentration, and the ratio of the mixture are also as easily modifiable as the absorption length. One has the choice between working in the frequency range (cm-1) or the wavelength mode (µm).
New in this version is the option of choosing from different isotopes. New additions to the database can be incorporated, including, for example, filter curves as ASCII files.
MOLSPEC IV makes it possible to generate synthetic band-pass and long-pass filters and integrate them into the displayed spectra. The advantages for users of NDIR technology are apparent: For one, the optimal filter can be found without costly hardware experiments and, for another, new questions that arise during product maintenance can be analyzed systematically. All customers who purchased MOLSPEC III in 2007 can obtain a free update. A free demo version (two molecules) can be requested by all interested parties.
