In addition to popular consumer products like DVD players, visible laser diodes are increasingly being used in a variety of applications from sensor technology to analytical measurement technology. In fact, they are becoming more and more widespread in sensor technology. In these applications the temperature behavior of laser diodes often plays a major role in the reliability of the whole system.
While several manufacturers currently specify laser diodes as having an operating temperature of up to 70 °C, LASER COMPONENTS raises the bar significantly and offers a visible laser diode that is suitable for cw operation at up to 85 °C.
At 650 nm the ADL-65074TL-1 delivers an output power of 7 mW at an operating current of typically 30 mA and comes in a hermetically sealed 5.6 mm housing with a built-in monitor diode.
This diode is available for applications with the highest demands. The structure of the laser chip was optimized with a special coating method to increase the catastrophic optical damage threshold by a factor of two. At the same time, the average life expectancy was increased to over 20,000 hours.
