Position Sensing Detectors (PSDs) are becoming increasingly popular for use in alignment tasks where precision is essential. Our series of PSDs offer unparalleled measurement performance with accuracies of 62.5 nm possible! Another application of a PSD system is vibration measurement – as PSDs are analogue devices they display rapid response times as short as 50 ns they can be used to measure and produce a signal relating to the vibrational frequency and amplitude of your equipment. This has been proven to be extremely helpful to determine where a system is vibrating and on what axis.
To support our range of PSDs we can also offer a series of signal processing circuits (SPCs) which can be free standing or integrated into the PSD. The SPCs are designed to take the output of a PSD and produce analogue voltages representing the displacement which can be then connected to a number of digital reading and recording systems.
