First presented at Photonics West in January is Advanced Photonix Inc’s new GaP UV filtered photodiode offering 1.2 mm² active area with a UV band pass optical filter all housed in a hermtically sealed TO-46 metal package. Its shunt resistance and dark current temperature coefficient makes this photodiode an alternative to SiC photodiodes when low power UV radiation is present.
With 300 pF junction capacitance a 10%-90% response time at 350 nm of 20 ns can be achieved when using a 50 Ohm load. Typical responsivity is 0.055 A/W at 280 nm.
Applications include water purification, flame monitoring and combustion efficiency control.
