LASER COMPONENTS supply a wide range of crystals: LiNbO3 (Lithium Niobate), which is widely used as a frequency doubler for wavelengths >1 µm and optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) pumped at 1064 nm, as well as quasi-phase matched devices. When LiNbO3 is doped with magnesium oxide it provides a good option for OPOs and optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs).
Our aBBO (Barium Borate) crystals have large birefringence between 189 nm and 3500 nm and are an excellent alternative to Calcite, TiO2 and LiNbO3 in Glan-Taylor and Glan-Thompson polarisers, particularly for high power and UV due to the unique transparency, good mechanical properties and high damage threshold. Another good alternative is our YVO4 (Yttrium Vanadate) crystal, commonly used for fibre optics. It has comparable to calcite for temperature stability, hardness and resistance to moisture, and also easier to manufacture and hence cheaper compared to TiO2 (Rutile) which is harder.
LASER COMPONENTS are able to supply many other crystals such as Ruby, DPM (diode pumped microchips), KTP (potassium titanium oxide phosphate, KTiOPO4) and TGG (terbium gallium garnet). Due to the larger crystals used in many of these, we are able to produce a variety of sizes of substrates and rods for most applications. Excellent results are achieved due to the quality and specifications of our crystals, and to further enhance results we are able to add various coatings to many substrates.
