The application possibilities for optical fibres in data communication, sensor technology and medical technology are extensive, varied and versatile, one reason why there is such a huge number of different optical cables, fibre types and connectors available.
In-house production includes standard cables for data transmission, special cables for sensor and medical technology, and also fibre bundles and fibre couplers. Most assemblies utilise inexpensive HCS fibres/cables with SMA and ST connectors. Individual prototypes and small quantities can be tailored to one’s needs.
In addition to fibres with core diameters of 50 to 1000µm, plastic fibres (POF) are also packaged in-house.

For Sterile Environments
LASER COMPONENTS offer a special packaging service for fibres that will be used in sterile environments, for example, in medical technology. Fibres and connectors with the least possible amount of germ exposure, which can be disinfected or sterilised by the user, are available. Also offered are sterilised and sterile packaged fibre cables.
This capability extends to the fibre stripper MediStrip. This fibre stripper is assembled in-house in an environment with the least possible amount of germ exposure, thus prepared for subsequent sterilisation. Upon request, the MediStrip can also be supplied in a sterile package.
The packaging and final testing of products used in sterile environments both take place in LASER COMPONENTS’ newly equipped clean rooms in accordance to current regulations and subject to the highest quality standards. The microbiological testing of clean rooms according to EN ISO 14698-1 and EN ISO 14698-2 is conducted by an independent accredited company.
