A small and inexpensive way to produce single pulses up to 1 MHz at a duty cycle of up to 5% in the ns range is to use the Picolas LDP-V50-100V3 laser diode driver. Pulsed laser diodes (PLD) that require a current of 5 A to 50 A can be comfortably operated with the LDP-V50-100V3. The laser diode is connected directly to the compact board, saving the need for any additional peripheral devices. A 15 VDC source and a trigger signal is all that is required for operation.
This combination of PLD and driver module can be used in optical measurements (e.g. LIDAR, speed guns, scanners), in optical data scanning (e.g. barcode readers), and in medical technology.
