The Laser Components Detectors Group (LCDG) has been manufacturing in-house APDs since the formation in 2004 of the state-of-the-art facility in Arizona. Since 2004 an exciting product range comprising high quality APDs and low cost versions have been produced.
Recent developments have resulted in an increase in the product range with the introduction of a 1.5mm active area APD using a reach-through structure designed to compliment the existing range.
The SAR1500 series offer a very low capacitance of 4pF and whilst optimised for peek sensitivity in the NIR region (900nm-1064nm) the response extends down to the visible region.
LCDG’s reach-through series offer very high noise performance, thus are ideal for spectroscopy, photon counting, fluorescence measurements and LIDAR as well as test and measurement systems in industrial, military and medical markets.
LASER COMPONENTS also offer APDs with integrated blocking filters or AR coated windows to further increase performance.
If a larger area APD is required, APDs with areas of 5mm, 10mm and 16mm are manufactured by our partner Advanced Photonix Inc. (API) who also offer drive electronics to provide complete module solutions. API offer several patented large area configurations (LAAPD) enhanced for a variety of regions of the spectrum. These are available with built-in thermoelectric coolers to reduce the dark current and enhance performance. Package options include hermetically sealed windows or windowless configurations.
