Fiber-Optic Gyroscopes (FOGs)
In fiber-optic gyroscopes (FOGs), the stress-applying parts (SAPs) are arranged in a bow-tie pattern. This efficiently focuses mechanical stress on the core of the polarization-maintaining fiber. In addition, the high birefringence ensures that the extinction ratio of polarization remains constant.
For a world-class performance level, we offer gyro fibers with an optimized coating. The performance is maintained in a temperature range between -55°C and +85°C. Even at temperatures as low as -60°C, the extinction ratio is only decreased by a few decibels.
The following special versions are available:
- Low beat length for a high extinction ratio
- High numerical aperture (insensitive to bending when narrowly wound)
- Radiation-resistant fibers for use in aerospace.
