The integrating sphere extends the power range of the Si detector to 9 W. Thanks to a proprietary coating developed by Gentec-EO, the detector features an exceptionally high damage threshold, which allows the device to be used in applications that had previously been reserved for thermal power detectors.

The water-cooled power meter combines the speed and signal quality of an Si detector with the attenuation characteristics of the integrating sphere which provide a very wide dynamic range. In just 200 ms, it delivers exact performance data for all laser types between 0.2 mW and 1 kW. For the first time, it has become possible to track the entire ramp-up process of a laser.
