When it comes to OStrV and TROS, many people first think of a laser safety officer and thus of safety when operating lasers. As part of the “Laser Technology and Laser Safety” symposium, we will primarily address trained and appointed laser safety officers who are entrusted with risk assessment within their company or who have to evaluate the laser classes of the manufactured systems as system integrators.
In Europe, the “Artificial Optical Radiation” guideline and its national implementation apply: That which is described in the national Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance (OStrV) is specified more concretely in the Technical Regulations for Optical Radiation (TROS).
In the field of coherent radiation, OStrV and TROS have been subject to recent changes, which has currently led to a high degree of uncertainty in the assessment of the systems.
The expert for laser technology and laser safety, Dr.-Ing. (doctor of engineering) Andreas Trautmann, will clarify how a risk and hazard assessment should be carried out in compliance with the law. The symposium will deal with laser beam sources (machine directive and new low-voltage directive), fiber optics, LEDs, and UV radiation sources (laser and photobiological lamp systems). Lasers in medicine are also addressed briefly in accordance with the technical application.
Participation is restricted to ten (10) people.
