Patchcords for Vacuum Environments

The high vacuum or ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments in laboratories and research institutes place special demands on all the components used. To maintain the vacuum, special fiber optic cables are required to prevent the fibers from outgassing. The assembly of these patch cables is very demanding and requires special methods such as the use of UHV-compatible adhesives. Patch cables with steel jackets, bare fibers, and custom solutions are possible. Cables are commonly equipped with specially manufactured UHV-compatible FC connectors; however, other connectors such as SMA-905 are also possible. This product range is completed by various vacuum feedthroughs for optical fibers and electrical connections.
