With the OTU 5000, Viavi Solutions offers a compact, fully scalable system for monitoring networks and data centers. With the help of special sensors, it is also possible to control passive infrastructures. Optical time domain reflectrometry (OTDR) allows for immediate detection and localization of performance errors in order to correct any errors often before service quality is noticeably impaired.
With only one rack unit, the OTU 5000 is suitable as a stand-alone solution for monitoring 72 glass fibers with a length of 100 or more kilometers. This system does not require complex software or a server connection. It is controlled via the web browser, and error messages are sent via e-mail or SMS.
The monitoring solution grows with the network. The OTU 5000 can be easily integrated into a comprehensive, automated ONMSi monitoring system. The optical switches can be scaled up to 1080 connections.
