The well-known DAISI-MT interferometer was further developed to allow the analysis of free-standing fibers in an SMA connector: This makes it possible to evaluate the surface quality after polishing.
To display the complete surface of an SMA connector, the viewing field under examination is approximately 3 mm. Any protrusion and/or eccentricity of the fiber can be identified and optimized.
