Silicon carbide (SiC) is THE material when it comes to UV sensitive, robust photodiodes that are also “solar blind.”
The JEC1.6 und JEC5 (5 mm² of active area) photodiodes are new. They supplement the product range and feature an improved spectral sensitivity in the UVB and UVC range. With an active area of 1.6 mm², the JEC1.6 diode has a 25% higher signal at a peak wavelength of 270 nm than the JEC1 model – and all at the same price. The complete illumination of the chip area is a prerequisite.
Versions with integrated filters for selected measurements in the UVA, UVB, and UVC range as well as the integration of operational amplifiers are also planned.
One “offshoot” of this new series is suited for high-resolution position measurements and tracking applications: the JQC5R quadrant diode.
The release of a diode with an active area of 0.5 mm² is expected during the first quarter of 2013.
