Making the impossible happen! Today we will be introducing a donut-shaped diffractive optical vortex element. The best part of this element is: The outside profile is square, while the inside is round. This makes it possible to achieve homogeneous material removal in laser material processing.
Vortex DOEs are enjoying increased popularity in laser material processing. These components put very few demands on the laser beam and on the distance to the working area. Another advantage of these components is the intensity distribution of the laser beam: A laser beam features the highest beam intensity at its center. In the vortex DOE, the power at the edge of the beam is used to achieve higher efficiency during processing.
The technical challenges to achieving a square outer cross section were enormous, but Holo/OR made it happen!
Many Different Elements – One Application
Different diffractive optical elements are available that are, in part, used for similar applications. We will be happy to assist you in the selection of the “right” element!
