Core-aligned and cladding-aligned optical fiber splicing is carried out using three-axis splicers.


Three-axis core-aligning splicers used in the laboratory and production are suited for fibers with a diameter of up to 1200 µm as well as for polarization-maintaining (PM) fibers.

FITEL Furukawa’s three-axis splicers make the core-centered and cladding-centered splicing of optical fibers possible. Core-centered splicing provides the most accurate results, and three-axis technology ensures that both fibers are precisely aligned with each other.
For many applications in which speed is paramount, we recommend a cost-effective cladding-centering splicer. Specialized solutions are also available for special requirements, such as the processing of bend-insensitive fibers. All the devices we present here are self-adjusting, suitable for both single-mode and multimode fibers, and can be controlled via a PC using SmartFuse software.
