The FGC-G fiber geometry measurement system makes it possible to measure the optical end surface geometry of optical fibers very fast. Special gray-scale video technology is used that is defined as a reference method in the IEC-60793-1-20 Annex B standard. This system calculates the geometric parameters of the fiber, including the core diameter, the non-circularity of the core, the cladding diameter, the non-circularity of the cladding, and the core-to-cladding concentricity.
There are two different types available for selection.
The FGC-GT model is optimized for fibers with a diameter of 125 µm. Some typical applications include measurements performed during the development and production of single-mode and multi-mode fibers, as well as the measurement of specialty fibers.
The FGC-GS model can measure fibers with a diameter of up to 1 mm and is optimized for the measurement of specialty fibers (e.g., octagonal fibers or dual-cladding fibers).
