The optical network monitoring system (ONMSI) increases the productivity and simplifies the management of optical networks through continuous monitoring of the network.
The network is remotely controlled and permanently monitored for changes and damages, the pathways are precisely recorded and documented via live monitoring. Errors, changes in attenuation, manipulation attempts, damage (caused by rodent bites on the fiber, damaged fibers in the cable, breaks, etc.), and fiber degradation (e.g., in so-called “flooded” sleeves, i.e., water damage) are automatically detected and identified.
Alarms can be configured individually. Continuous (24/7) monitoring via OTDR technology increases security and the reaction time in an emergency. This system is scalable and customizable (Metro/Core/Access). A large variety of measurement modules and optical switches is available. It is possible to configure the alarms for different constellations. In combination with GPS and landmark data, errors can be very precisely localized.
